The 38′ Ford was disassembled and professionally painted and coated with top quality products. A painstaking 7 year restoration completed by a Ford enthusiast who worked for Atchley Ford in early 2000. The fit and finish reflects detail of a 1938 showroom original vehicle. Frame was media blasted and coated with POR15. All cables, brake hardware and running boards were included in the finish process. Original wheels wrapped with correct Firestone Bias Ply Pie Crust Tires look period correct. Rebuilt suspension using new Posie Springs, a perfect stance with comfortable ride.
During the process, owner elected to have original hardware re-plated and polished rather than using replicated parts from overseas. Interior incorporates sound deadening materials and correct Lebaron Bonney Mohair Interior, headliner included. The interior was finished to precise original specifications, including new bake lite knobs and gauge lens. Original Banjo wheel with goose neck 3 speed floor shift mated to 100 hp Ford Flathead engine. The clutch and engine rebuilt mated with Red’s Headers exiting through Smithy Mufflers and capped with reflector chrome extensions. Sounds soooooooo mellow when cruising but cackles under acceleration. All new cloth covered wire harness from YNZ. All light buckets media blasted and replaced with new bulbs. In order to increase voltage output, an 8 volt battery (+ ground) keeps the vehicle energized. Only deduct on show points was due to radio not functioning, however, will work with new tube kit. This is a rare find, showing as a near perfect original.
